Michael Chong
Michael Chong is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Sociology and a Non-stipendiary Research Fellow at Nuffield College. His research develops modelling and estimation methods to measure demographic and health indicators, particularly in data-sparse settings. At Oxford, Michael works with Ridhi Kashyap on the Digital Gender Gaps project to improve global estimates of access to digital technologies and understand its health impacts.
Before joining Oxford, Michael completed his PhD in Statistics at the University of Toronto. His work has addressed estimation problems in maternal health, stillbirth, and historical mortality, and has appeared in journals such as The Lancet Global Health, Statistics in Medicine, and the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society: Series C.
