LCDS researchers help bring ICSC 2026 to Oxford

Researchers associated with the Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science (LCDS) are among the Oxford-based organisers of the 7th International Conference on Social Computing 2026 (ICSC 2026), which will be held in person at Nuffield College, University of Oxford, from 2–4 September 2026. The conference is designed to bring together scholars working at the intersection of big-data analytics, computational methods, and social science theory.

This year’s call for papers will be of particular interest to researchers working in digital and computational demography. Among the conference’s main themes are:

  • Digital and Computational Demography;
  • Social applications of Large Language Models;
  • Large-scale social media analytics and intelligence;
  • Digital inclusion in the Global South;
  • Applied social computing in domains such as health and finance.

That emphasis resonates strongly with LCDS’s own research agenda. The conference programme will centre on interdisciplinary advances in models, methods, platforms, and responsible deployment across social computing. Submissions are welcomed in multiple formats, including full papers for optional conference proceedings, extended abstracts for work in progress, and open-access versions of previously published work. The proceedings are expected to be published by Springer Nature in the CCIS series, with selected papers fast-tracked to ACM Transactions on Social Computing or the Journal of Social Computing. Papers will be invited to be presented either as a single track keynote, a multi-track parrallel session, or as a poster.

For LCDS, the event offers an opportunity to showcase Oxford’s strengths in population data science and to convene researchers using computational approaches to study population change, inequality, health, and social behaviour. Paper submissions are due by 23:59 GMT on 25 May 2026, with the main conference scheduled for 3–4 September 2026 and a pre-conference workshop on 2 September 2026.

We look forward to hopefully seeing you there!
