The prediction of human longevity based on forecasting life expectancy offers multiple advantages, but the reconstruction of age-specific mortality is more challenging. A new article led by Marius Pascariu and coauthored by José Manuel Aburto, Newton Fellow at the Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science and the Department of Sociology, proposes the Linear Link model to tackle this challenge.

COVID-19 vaccine: reliable communications needed to beat ‘infodemic’ of misinformation
A coordinated programme to combat anti-vaxx misinformation and encourage confidence in a COVID-19 vaccine is essential if a take-up target of eight in ten people in the UK is to be achieved, according to Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science Director Professor Melinda Mills, author of a report published today by the British Academy and the Royal Society for the SET-C (Science in Emergencies Tasking: COVID-19) group.
