Emma Romell
Emma is a multidisciplinary social demographer with wide-ranging interests in inequality and wellbeing, working on the SEXRATIO project with Dr Joshua Wilde. Her research engages questions relating to fertility, families, education, and maternal and reproductive health, with an emphasis on inequality by gender and race. Much of her current work asks whether and how family structure shapes wellbeing across the life course, both in the United States and Europe. She is also involved in research on contraceptive autonomy and the measurement of access to contraception.
Before joining LCDS, Emma completed her PhD in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she was also a trainee with the Center for Demography and Ecology and the Collaborative for Reproductive Equity. Emma also completed a research stay at the French Institute for Demographic Studies (Ined). She holds an M.S. and a B.A. in Sociology with Distinction from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
